We are delighted to present the latest in our IFA Annual Report Series, the Platform Research Report 2023. The report provides a detailed look at the platform market with key information provided by AKG, Synaptic Software and Defaqto.
In order to provide as wide a coverage as possible we asked contributors to supply their own data to allow them to describe their services in their own words and complete a detailed questionnaire. Comparative analysis is always useful and Tony Catt has added a new ‘heat-map’ on platform charges to the report this year which will be incredibly valuable.
In line with the changes expected with the implementation of new rules around Consumer Duty from 31st July, the use of platforms will enable advisers to deliver more positive client outcomes. As platforms form part of advisers’ Centralised Investment Proposition, it is more important than ever that advisers have access to detailed information that allows them to choose the platform that best suits their needs.
The FCA is keen to see evidence of deeper and more engaged due diligence being carried out by advisers and as Tony mentions in his introduction ‘it is in the best interests of business to carry out robust, repeatable and recordable research and due diligence exercises when selecting tools to help their business’.
