Sustainability is back under the microscope after the FCA recently unveiled its Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) and investment labels regime for investment products. It’s aimed at improving the transparency of sustainable investment products and minimizing greenwashing – including four sustainability ‘labels’ that asset managers can use.
On this week’s podcast, Jenny and Brandon speak to Hortense Bioy, Global Director of Sustainability Research at Morningstar. Morningstar has recently undertaken some useful research U.K. Sustainability Disclosure Requirements: An early analysis | Morningstar, to explore what the landscape of UK sustainability-labelled funds may look like in the future.
Hortense’s in-depth knowledge of this topic makes the podcast informational and insightful. For example, you may not know these labels will be non-compulsory!
She starts by touching on what each of the four labels represents and were created for. She then moves on to the challenges she expects investors will face with the introduction of this new regulation. Finally, she gives us her view on whether this new SDR regime will ultimately be successful and what success actually looks like.
With key deadlines and implementation dates looming this year, we will be sure to hear much more about these new guidelines in the coming months.
